The St. Louis Mosaic Project has teamed up with the International Spouses/Expat Women Group, the International Mentoring Program, and the Men's Expat Club to offer ways for New Americans to find social connections and community, and for local St. Louisans to learn about new cultures by welcoming and supporting the growing foreign-born population.

STL International Spouse/expat Group

This group is for foreign-born women who have moved to the St. Louis area with a spouse or partner and for relocated expat women.  Members come from various backgrounds and speak various languages. There are now +840 women from +95 countries. A significant majority have professional degrees and have had successful careers in their country of origin.

This group provides a forum for members to connect with and lend support to one another, as well as continue to develop professional skills through presentations and volunteer work, an opportunity to practice English in a safe space, and explore our new community together. This is a diverse community of dynamic women focused on welcoming, integrating, supporting, educating and empowering our international network of like-minded women.

Susan Gobbo is co-founder and coordinator of this International Spouses Group.

STL International Women Mentoring Program

The mission of The St Louis International Spouses Mentoring Program is to connect international women with local women in order to help them integrate into the St. Louis community. Each international woman (the mentee) will be paired with one local women (the mentor) based on similar backgrounds and interests.  These 1:1 matches are a win-win: the international women learn about the nuances of living in St. Louis, cultural attractions, volunteer and education opportunities, dining and sporting events while the local women learn about other cultures and customs.  Best of all, long-lasting friendships are made!
